spotlight Boxing, based in Hamburg, Germany, was founded in September 2003. Promoter Dietmar Poszwa is Klaus-Peter Kohl"s (Universum Box-Promotion) son-in-law. Therefore, spotlight cooperates closely with Europe"s biggest boxing company. Trainers Fritz Sdunek, Michael Timm and Magomed Schaburow take care of the spotlight prospects. In the legendary Hamburg gym they train next to Universum"s superstars.
About ten fight nights per year are broadcast live on Eurosport tv and can be seen in 54 countries, from Scandinavia to Morocco, from Great Britain to Russia. Core markets are Germany, France, Italy, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. In 2004, more than 100 million viewers followed spotlight fights on Eurosport. Among 40 sports branches, Eurosport viewers voted boxing their most preferred.
Starting at the beginning of the year 2007 spotlight boxing and German TV network ProSieben have extended their agreement to include approximately 20 "ProSieben Fight Nights" through 2009. Three more editions of the highly rated Friday night boxing series (from 10:15 pm) featuring 'next generation' fighters are scheduled for the balance of 2007, with seven or eight events planned in 2008 and 2009.
spotlight boxing has signed the new generation of young boxers, from Sugar-Ray-Leonard-like Willy Blain (France), the super featherweight Vitali Tajbert (Germany), the middleweights Sebastian Zbik (Germany) and Gennady Golovkin (Kazachstan), the supermiddleweight Dimitri Sartison (Germany) to heavyweight knockouters, the brothers Egon und Dieter Roth (Germany), Sebastian Köber (Germany), Vladimir Virchis (Ukraine) and the cruiserweight Rudolf Kraj (Czech Republic) finally to the first spotlight boxing world champion - WBA cruiserweight Firat Arslan (Germany).
Also the female side is present: World Champions Susi Kentikian (flyweight) and Karolina Lukasik (super welterweight).
The fight cards include National and International Championships, European and World Title Fights. spotlight boxing has staged memorable events in Germany and Austria and plans fight nights in Mallorca and at even more glamourous places.
